Daimler Trucks makes leadership change
Daimler AG said Thursday Wolfgang Bernhard will succeed Andreas Renschler as head of Daimler Trucks effective April 1, as Renschler moves to the company’s Mercedez-Benz auto unit.
After the April 1 transition, Bernhard and Renschler will have effectively swapped roles.
The company also announced a three year extension for CEO Dieter Zetsche whose contract was set to expire in December of this year.
Renschler has been head of Daimler Trucks since October 2004. Bernhard returned to Daimler in 2009 after a five-year gap that includes a stint at Volkswagen. He assumed the Mercedes car division’s production post in 2010.
Renschler will head production and purchasing for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and vans, the company said in a statement.
Martin Daum, President of Daimler Trucks North America, which makes Freightliner and Western Star brand trucks and Detroit brand engines, transmissions and axles, will report to Bernhard.
