Navistar sees ‘strong’ October results

Jason Cannon November 8, 2013

Navistar followed up near-record September orders with what Bill Kozek, president of North America Truck and Parts, Navistar, called a “strong” October.

“Our order intake continues to improve and through our sales momentum initiatives we are converting effort into sales at a growing rate,” he says. “While we thought we would see certain deals completed in October, we will see those soon.”

Kozek says the industry continues to be cautiously optimistic, stoked mostly by replacement and seasonal demand.

“However, October was a strong month for heavy-duty orders and some of that is part of the expected fall surge,” he adds. “As we have progressed through our heavy-duty SCR product transition we have seen growing confidence in our products reflected in orders. That trend continued this month and while the overall industry experienced lower medium-duty volumes, the Cummins ISB continues to drive sales momentum for both medium-duty trucks and IC buses.”

Kozek says Navistar has logged more than 3,900 orders for the Cummins ISB engines since Sept. 3.

“We have also received more than 13,500 orders for Cummins ISX engines since December 1, 2012, and more than 6,700 orders for MaxxForce 13 engines with SCR since March 1, 2013,” he adds.
