Trailer orders surpass 230,000 for third straight year

Jason Cannon January 27, 2014

December trailer orders improved 14 percent month-over-month, as six of the 10 trailer categories posted positive results.

For 2013, a total of 231,700 orders were booked, down just less than 2 percent from 2012’s result and marks the third consecutive year of annual orders were greater than 230,000.

This information was included in the most recent State of the Industry: U.S. Trailerspublished by ACT Research Co. (ACT).

“All trailer categories had single digit cancellation rates, which is a positive for the industry,” says Frank Maly, Director – CV Transportation Analysis and Research at ACT. “In addition to indicating that existing fleet commitments are solid, low cancellations also simplify material flow and order planning by the original equipment manufacturers,” he added.
