Bendix demos advanced safety, environmental technologies

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC recently demonstrated its advanced active safety and new fuel saving air management technologies to fleets, legislators and governmental agencies in Washington, D.C.

In its fourth annual demonstration conducted in Washington, D.C., Bendix CVS provided attendees the opportunity to see firsthand how the company’s advanced, active safety technologies help save lives, as well as fuel. An audience of more than 50 people experienced Bendix ESP Electronic Stability Program – a full stability technology designed to help mitigate rollover and loss-of-control situations on dry, wet, snow and ice-covered roadways; Bendix Wingman ACB – Active Cruise with Braking, an active safety technology designed to help fleets reduce rear-end collisions by helping drivers maintain safe following distances behind vehicles; and the company’s latest air-management technology, the Bendix Pneumatic Booster System (PBS), which helps improve engine performance while delivering fuel savings and emission reductions.

In addition, guests at the event also received updates on SmarTire, a tire pressure monitoring system, which can help improve fuel economy and reduce tire-related maintenance costs, and Bendix air disc brakes and high-performance drum brakes to aid in improving stopping distances.

PBS and other Bendix air management technologies can provide fuel savings and emission reductions that help us all conserve energy and breathe a little easier. We plan to continue to demonstrate these technologies so people better understand the features and benefits, not only to truckers, but for everyone who shares the road.”

Event attendees included representatives from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Environmental Protection Agency and the National Transportation Safety Board, along with congressional representatives, fleets and dealers who were able to experience the technologies and gain insight regarding how these systems can help fleets improve safety and environmental performance.
