Bendix Slack Adjuster now an option on Freightliner, Western Star

Jason Cannon April 8, 2013

The Bendix Versajust Slack Adjuster is now an option on select Class 8 Freightliner and Western Star vehicles from Daimler Trucks North America.

Introduced in 2010, the Versajust slack adjuster, introduced in 2010, offers a precise adjustment rate, allowing better running clearance between the brake shoe and drum and greatly resisting over adjustment.

“Brakes are a commercial vehicle’s most crucial piece of safety equipment. At the same time, they can have a significant impact on the end-user’s bottom line,” Gary Ganaway, director of marketing and global customer solutions for Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake, says. “Initial results from evaluations of the Versajust lack adjuster compared to competitive slack adjusters show that the Versajust can significantly improve lining life.”

The company says its Versajust slack adjuster features patented bronze friction rings, increased corrosion resistance, and stronger seal to provide durability across a range of environments and duty cycles. It is also engineered for easy installation and maintenance without the need for special tools, attachments, templates, or brackets, according to Bendix.
