Detroit Connect telematics solutions offered to mixed fleets

Lucas Deal November 17, 2013

Detroit Diesel announces the availability of its new all-makes telematics solutions for mixed fleets beginning in Q1 2014.

Detroit Connect Visibility fleet software and the On-Board Tablet use the latest in commercial telematics technology to boost efficiency and driver performance. Available initially for Freightliner Trucks and Western Star products, more than 60,000 customers have benefitted from the innovative Detroit Connect technologies, the company says.

“By expanding the availability of the On-Board Tablet and Visibility fleet software to mixed fleets, we are arming all fleet managers with powerful tools that streamline communications, benefit fuel efficiency and enhance driver productivity,” says Joe Saccio, manager, sales and marketing, Detroit Connect for Daimler Trucks North America. “With Detroit Connect, DTNA is leading the charge to develop technologies that benefit the industry.”

Visibility fleet software monitors and delivers real-time data on the entire fleet to track the status of one or all of the trucks. The software generates reports that provide detailed information on vehicle location, speed, mileage, routes, stop times, idle times and more to help managers make valuable adjustments that ultimately enhance fleet productivity.

Detroit says the On-Board Tablet delivers hours-of-service logs for reporting; Two-Way Messaging, including text to voice; Advanced Navigation for asset specific routing; and simplified Preand Post-trip Inspection.

Developed on the Android platform, the On-Board Tablet’s intuitive interface, portable size and durable casing make it ideal for all applications, the company says. It features a colorful touch-screen display with an hours-of-service clock, and the ability to host third party apps. Purchase of the On-Board Tablet includes Visibility fleet software.

Contact an authorized Freightliner, Western Star or Detroit service outlet, for more information on hardware and service subscription options.

The Detroit Connect suite of products includes Virtual Technician for engine diagnostics, Visibility fleet software, and the On-Board Tablet. Detroit Connect is part of the Detroit product family, which includes the Detroit DT12 Automated Manual Transmission, Detroit Axles, and Detroit engines.
