IronPlanet launching truck auction website

Jason Cannon April 30, 2013

IronPlanet, an online marketplace for used heavy equipment, Thursday launched TruckPlanet, a complimentary online marketplace dedicated exclusively to buying and selling used commercial trucks.

Since IronPlanet went online more than a decade ago, the company says it has sold more than $3 billion of used equipment including thousands of trucks.

TruckPlanet connects buyers and sellers of used commercial trucks through its online auctions.

“With more than $500 million of used trucks sold to date, IronPlanet has proven expertise in helping customers buy and sell used trucks,” said Randy Berry, senior vice president of operations and services, IronPlanet.  ”We are leveraging our 13 plus years of used heavy equipment and vocational truck expertise to create a flexible online marketplace that meets the specific needs of the over-the-road commercial truck industry.”

TruckPlanet offers a wide array of used commercial trucks for sale, including day cabs, sleepers, refrigerated trucks, flatbeds, light-duty work pickups and heavy haul tractors.

TruckPlanet provides detailed inspection reports backed by a company quality guarantee.

Additionally, TruckPlanet offers truck financing and warranty programs.

TruckPlanet’s first auction on May 7 is an exclusive auction of more than 300 Ryder road-ready trucks. Future auctions will be held on a bi-weekly cycle. The auction features 89 single axle day cabs, 69 cargo trucks, 57 refrigerated trucks, 45 tandem axle day cabs, 12 tandem axle sleepers and 11 flatbed trucks located throughout Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island.

Berry says IronPlanet auctions will continue to include construction-related trucks and trailers, and TruckPlanet auctions will be simulcast on IronPlanet, allowing IronPlanet customers to bid on all trucks available on either marketplace.
