MAXXUS brakes now on the highway with Daimler

Jason Cannon March 22, 2013

WABCO Holdings Inc. announced this week at the 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. that series production trucks from Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), are now on the road and fitted with WABCO’s MAXXUS heavy-duty single-piston air disc brake technology.

As previously announced, WABCO entered into a long-term supply agreement with DTNA in June 2012, and as a result, MAXXUS brakes have been fitted to DTNA’s range of vehicles since last month.

MAXXUS is currently available on Freightliner Cascadia, Coronado, Columbia, Business Class M2 and SD models, as well as Western Star 4700, 4800, and 4900 models.

“MAXXUS, being specifically tailored for the local market, is yet another example of WABCO’s differentiation through technology leadership, and a further demonstration of the company’s commitment to serve North American customers,” says Nikhil Varty, WABCO President, Americas.

WABCO’s MAXXUS single-piston air disc brake is more than 40pounds lighter than a comparable air disc brake when fitted to a 6×4 truck, the company says.

MAXXUS air disc brakes have been specifically designed for the North American market and are well within U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards for stopping distance. In addition, an adaptor plate enables the MAXXUS air disc brake to be fitted to standard drum brake axles.
