Pete dealer seeks expansion, sales tax to fund it

Kansas-based Doonan Truck & Equipment is seeking to erect a Peterbilt dealership in Ellis County, Ks. and has asked county leadership to establish a Community Improvement District to make it happen, The Hays Daily News reported.

The company hopes to begin construction off Exit 157 on Interstate 70, at 55th Street and 230th Avenue, according to the newspaper, but is seeking the establishment of a 2 percent sales tax for up to 22 years on the 5 acre site.

The Daily News said the site would require more than $3 million in improvements, all of which would be financed by the sales tax.
