Ransome, an established Caterpillar dealer for nearly 80 years, has now been appointed by Navistar International to handle International  truck sales, parts, service, leasing, rentals and engine overhauls in Philadelphia, Delaware and Chester Counties in Pennsylvania and in southern New Jersey.

According to Ransome President, Wayne Bromley, “Our established expertise in truck and engine service makes this a sensible fit for us and for International, but especially for truck owners. We now handle truck sales, leasing, rentals and warranty service, for International trucks as well as maintenance and repairs for all other trucks and truck engines, regardless of make.”

He adds, “The importance of the American trucking industry cannot be overstated. Truck drivers and driver-sales workers comprise one of the largest occupations in this country, amounting to some 3.2 million jobs.”

Ransome’s main truck facilities are located in West Chester, Pa.and in Swedesboro, N.J. However, used truck sales, rentals, service and engine work also are performed at other Ransome locations in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

“In this market, says Lee Pearson, Ransome corporate marketing manager, “truck owners and operators will never be further than one-hour from assistance by a Ransome branch”.  He notes that the company’s facilities are located in Allentown, Whitehall, Fleetwood, Bensalem (headquarters) and West Chester, Pa.; Bear, Del.; and Toms River, Hammonton and Swedesboro, N.J. “And among our 550 employees, nearly 100 are highly trained truck technicians, qualified to service nearly every make and model of truck found in the U.S,” he said. “It’s almost a certainty that with our addition of International Trucks, we’ll be adding technical staff at several locations”.

Ransome, also known as Giles & Ransome, or G&R, was established in 1916 and added Caterpillar equipment to its offerings in 1932. Vice President, Kristin Bromley-Fitzgerald, says, “To maintain our people’s edge, we make sure they receive continuing training to upgrade their skills and to keep pace with the technology changes in our industry. It’s no longer just engine work, sheet metal and hydraulic systems.  Today, computers and special instrumentation play an important role in the equipment and trucking industry just as in other industries.”
