I read Successful Dealer to stay current with the industry from the dealer perspective. While there are many publications that offer information about the trucking industry, SD is the only one that approaches it from the dealer’s unique viewpoint. We’ve gleaned many helpful tips from the various articles over the years. We’ve adopted several practices that we learned about through SD and can show measurable results from what we learned.
All of the officers subscribe to SD, but in addition, many of the employees pick it up and read it so we leave copies in the break rooms, lunch rooms and other common areas.
I find it to be very specific. I.e., Your recent article about mobile service units is specific to OEM Truck Dealerships. Most pubs of this nature tend to write in general terms or apply the lesson across multiple venues. (Truck dealers, car dealers, heavy equipment dealers, etc) There are differences. I appreciate that SD focuses on truck dealerships only. That particular article was great because we are looking into the opportunity and so I learned a lot in a few minutes.
