Trailer orders up over last year

Jason Cannon October 30, 2013

September marked the second consecutive month with trailer industry net orders above the 240k rate on a seasonally adjusted basis.

According to ACT Research, September trailer orders climbed 3.5 percent from last year to 17,459 units. That marked the best monthly tally since April.

Despite that strength, industry backlogs continue to be thin, ACT says. This information was included in the most recent State of the Industry: U.S. Trailers.

“October is the normal kick-off for the industry orders season,” says Frank Maly, Director-CV Transportation with ACT Research. “The upcoming months will be critical to laying the foundation for the 2014 market.”
