Truck Center Companies adds Western Star in Lincoln, Neb.

Jason Cannon July 15, 2014

Truck Center Companies’ Lincoln, Neb. location has added Western Star to its dealership offerings.

The Western Star brand is no stranger to Lincoln, but when the franchise became available earlier this year, Truck Center jumped on it.

“We did a business plan and liked what we saw,” says General Manager Greg Reitmeier.

Truck Center Companies is, likewise, no stranger to Western Star, offering the trucks at many of its other dealerships.

“We’re very familiar with the brand,” Reitmeier says. “So there is a level of comfort with it.”

Already a Daimler truck dealer, Reitmeier says the Lincoln location will require very little retooling to accommodate the new brand, adding he hopes to service Nebraska’s rock hauling business with the company’s Western Star brand.

“There are a lot of aggregate haulers in the market that we feel are underserved,” he says noting Western Star’s dump chassis would be a good fit for those customers. “It’s a very rugged, durable, well-built truck.”

Western Star will soon unveil a new aerodynamic tractor to the market, a move Reitmeier hopes will help the brand capture more market share from over the road drivers.

“I think it’s a unique product not currently offered in (Western Star’s) niche market,” he says. “So, I think there is an opportunity for this truck to be very successful.”
