This is the fourth time since the award’s inception in 2000 that CIT as a dealer group – and the second time for Volvo – has been recognized by Dot with the award for product quality and reliability, outstanding service to DTI, and strong knowledge of Dot operations while providing solutions.
“Central Illinois Trucks has been an outstanding partner for DTI while providing us with high-quality Volvo tractors,” says Kevin Buss, director of fleet maintenance for Dot. “From the initial order, through regular maintenance and support, CIT and Volvo are always on top of any questions we have along with support needed.”
Buss says Dot Transportation determines its winner through a variety of metrics and a scorecard system that rates vendors from 1 to 5 in areas such as product, service and reliability.
Results are tracked from year-to-year and used with other variables to determine Vendor of the Year.
“The decision for Vendor of the Year weighs predominantly on ratings from the scorecard,” Buss says, adding CIT “scored great this year and it shows.”
CIT was formally recognized at Dot’s 2013 vendor golf outing at Rolling Greens Golf Course, where approximately 30 vendors are invited each year for lunch, a business update, awards presentation, day of golfing and dinner.
“Just receiving an invite to the golf outing is something our people really enjoy,” says Jan Nussbaum, vice president and principal dealer at Central Illinois Trucks. “But when we found we were being recognized among all of the other great vendors there, it was humbling. Serving our customers is a top priority, so this means a lot.”
