Daniel J. Murphy, President and CEO of Idealease, Inc. has been appointed Chairman of The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) for 2014-2015.
“I am honored to serve as Chairman for TRALA for the next year. I strongly believe that TRALA does excellent work in fostering a positive legislative and regulatory climate for companies in the North American leasing and rental industry,” Murphy says.
As TRALA Chairman, Murphy says he will focus on two primary objectives.
“First, I will work to continue TRALA’s mission of advocacy, especially at this time when numerous and serious challenges face the industry such as the operating lease accounting rule changes that are under review and the new federal highway bill that could open the door to re-instating vicarious liability laws.”
His second objective is to expand TRALA’s highly successful academic scholarship program to include vocational scholarships.
“The transportation industry needs to build a strong bench of future diesel engine technicians,” Murphy says. “The new TRALA scholarship program is aimed at providing opportunities for TRALA employees and their children to pursue training as diesel technicians.”
To support this effort, Idealease, Inc. will contribute $10,000 a year for the next five years to help increase the number of annual scholarship awards.
