R. Kyle Treadway, president, dealer principal and legal counsel of Kenworth Sales Co. with locations in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Nevada and Wyoming, was named one of six finalists for the American Truck Dealers (ATD) 2014 Truck Dealer of the Year.
Treadway has been part of Kenworth Sales Company, which was founded by his grandparents in 1945, his entire life. The company has grown from three locations in 1999 to 20 locations and captured a 23 percent new Class-8 market share. The company’s gross sales have increased threefold and its employee base has tripled to more than 700 with plans to add another 8 percent.
The dealership has received Kenworth’s Dealer Excellence award, at both the gold and silver levels, multiple times. For 12
consecutive years, they were named World’s Best from Kenworth. Personally, Treadway has been involved with ATD since 2005 serving in various leadership positions including national chair, vice chair and Kenworth line representative. Treadway has supported and contributed to several organizations, including the Salt Lake Community Council, Utah Masters Swimming, Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Stansbury Elementary School and the Granite Education Association.
In addition, Kenworth Sales Company asks all employees to select a local charity to support each year. The dealership then provides financial and logistical support to facilitate fundraising, distributions and community awareness.
Most recently, the company co-sponsored a national tour of a World Trade Towers 9/11 artifact by providing the Kenworth T660 to bring the exhibit from the East Coast.
The 2014 Truck Dealer of the Year and runner-up will be announced Saturday, Jan. 25, during the 51st annual ATD Convention and Expo, which runs concurrently with the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention and Expo in New Orleans from Jan. 24-27.
