William K. Reilley, Sr., CEO of Lakeside International Trucks, with eight locations in Wisconsin and Illinois, was named one of six finalists for the American Truck Dealers (ATD) 2014 Truck Dealer of the Year.
Reilley began his career in the truck industry in the mid 1960’s with International Harvester Co. in Chicago, progressing through a number of sales positions before becoming Fleet Sales Manager in 1981. Three years later he was approved to become the medium- and heavy-duty truck dealer in the Milwaukee, Wisc. market.
Reilley became sole owner of the dealership in 1995 after purchasing 100 percent of the stock. In 2010, he was named CEO of the business, and today runs the dealership in partnership with his son, William Reilley, Jr.
Over nearly 30 years, Reilley expanded the business to six full-service dealership locations and two parts and service locations in Wisconsin and Illinois. He attributes the company’s growth to several initiatives including leadership training, a performance management system, an established human resources department, an apprentice program to develop service technicians, and the formation of their own financial company, Transport Capital, a division of Lakeside.
The dealership was named Truck Dealer of the Year for the State of Wisconsin by the Wisconsin Auto and Truck Dealers Association in 1999 and 2003. In 2000, they were named International Truck Dealer of the Year by Navistar, and has received numerous other awards.
Personally, Reilley was recently named as the first recipient of the “Man of the Year” award from St. Ann’s Center for Intergenerational Care, honoring his 12 years of dedicated service to the facility where he served as chairman from 2006-2007, chairman of the fundraising committee from 2003-2006, and has been a member of the audit committee since 2008.
The 2014 Truck Dealer of the Year and runner-up will be announced Saturday, Jan. 25, during the 51st annual ATD Convention and Expo, which runs concurrently with the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention and Expo in New Orleans from Jan. 24-27.
